The app works best when you are in Italy!
When you arrive at your villa, ensure that the app can acess your location. Go to your phone's settings, scroll down to the Inside Italy app, select 'location' and then 'allow location access'. The app will display all the travel tips closest to you!
From the menu, you may
- EXPLORE (browse) categories – sightseeing, restaurants, shopping, etc.
- SEARCH by keyword – your house, estate or region name (see list below).
Toggle between the LIST and MAP displays by using the icon (pin/list) on the lower right-hand side.
On the map, tips appear as coloured pins with icons:
- Gold star – Katharina's must-see gems that have a special place in her heart.
- Blue fork & knife – Katharina's recommended restaurants
- Orange cocktail – Particularly good places for an apéritivo at sunset. Many are also restaurants.
- Bordeaux grape bunch – Wineries open to the public for tasting, purchase and possibly tours
- Green column – The best sightseeing – churches, museums, picturesque villages, noteworthy public plazas, castles, archaeological sites, monasteries, gardens, remarkable natural features, etc.
- Pink tennis ball – Sports sites – tennis centres, swimming pools, kayaking, surfing, scuba, equestrian centres, etc.
- Violet kid – Adventure parks, water parks, playgrounds and other things specifically geared to children
- Scarlet shopping bag – Shops with local produce, artisanal crafts and unique souvenirs as well as designer outlets.
- Turquoise beach umbrella – Beaches (some with services and food, others without)
- Warm grey infinity loop – 'Hands-on' experiences and immersive activities, including classes, tours, spas, thermal baths, boat rentals, unique excursions, etc.
Save your favourite listings to MY TIPS by clicking on the star at the top right of the screen.

When using the app for pre-arrival travel planning, do NOT allow the app to access your location. Go to your phone's settings, scroll down to the Inside Italy app, select 'location,' and choose 'never.'
Then, to load all of the listings into the app, go to All Tips and keep scrolling to the bottom of the list (be patient, this will take a minute!). You may then use the app as indicated above.
